About this Funding
IRAP (Industrial Research Assistance Program) is a federal funding program that provides Canadian startups and SMEs with non-repayable grants and expert advisory support to develop and commercialize innovative, technology-driven products or services. Delivered by the National Research Council of Canada, IRAP helps businesses accelerate R&D, bring new solutions to market, and scale through funding, mentorship, and access to technical and business expertise. 🚀🇨🇦
Basic eligibility (for startups)
- Be a Canadian, incorporated, for‑profit SME with fewer than 500 employees.
- Be working on a technology‑driven, innovative product, service, or process with clear commercialization potential in Canada.
- Have the internal capacity (team, finances, project plan) to execute the project and to fund the portion IRAP does not cover (often 20–40%)
