Hosted at McGill University, the Dobson Cup has evolved into a hands on experiential learning platform that connects student founders with seasoned entrepreneurs, investors, and industry mentors. Organizers describe it as a rare opportunity for early stage innovators to gain direct exposure to real world startup dynamics while building relationships that can extend well beyond the competition.
Finalists across four tracks are competing for more than $200,000 in total funding, underscoring the program’s growing scale and ambition. Of that amount, $160,000 in prizes will be distributed across all tracks, with four first place winners each receiving $20,000, four second place teams awarded $12,000 each, and four third place teams taking home $8,000 apiece.
While the prize money is significant, participants often point to the access to mentorship and high caliber networking as the true differentiator, making the Dobson Cup a launchpad for student led ventures looking to move from concept to company.
